The Joint Commission North Kansas City Hospital ranks among the best in the nation, according to The Joint Commission. The Joint Commission officials remarked, “North Kansas City Hospital is an excellent hospital. A warm and friendly place full of employees deeply dedicated to quality care.”
Individual programs at North Kansas City Hospital also have received acclaim.
Cancer Program North Kansas City Hospital's cancer program is nationally recognized and accredited by the Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons (COC). Patients who receive care in a COC program are ensured access to quality care close to home; comprehensive care offering state-of-the-art services and equipment; a multi-specialty team approach to coordinate the best treatment options; information about cancer clinical trials; education and support; lifelong patient follow-up through a cancer registry; and ongoing monitoring and improvement of care.
To receive COC accreditation, facilities undergo a rigorous evaluation process and performance review with an on-site review every three years to maintain approval.
Wound Healing Center North Kansas City Hospital's Wound Healing Center is one of only 14 facilities in the country with accreditation by the Undersea Hyperbaric Medical Society, Inc., the recognized authority in the field of hyperbaric medicine.

National Award for Diabetes Educators The Kansas City Regional Association of Diabetes Educators (KCRADE) received the national award for 2009 Chapter of the Year. This national group guides the professional of diabetes educators to promote healthy living and self management for all people with diabetes and related conditions. KCRADE was created more than 20 years ago.
National Medal of Honor North Kansas City Hospital earned the National Medal of Honor for the third year at the National Learning Congress for achieving a 75 percent or higher organ donation rate among eligble donors for a 12-month reporting period. North Kansas City Hospital is one of the top hospitals throughout Kansas and Missouri for organ donation.
National Quality Award, Respiratory Care North Kansas City Hospital has again earned the Quality Respiratory Care Recognition (QRCR) award for the seventh consecutive year. The award is part of a national program aimed at helping patients and families make informed decisions about the quality of respiratory care services available in hospitals. North Kansas City Hospital is one of only 700 hospitals out of 5,000 in the United States that received the award.
Named to the 2009 HomeCare Elite™ The HomeCare Elite™ is the definitive compilation of the most successful Medicare-certified home health care providers in the U.S. This review recognizes the Top 25 percent of agencies based on an analysis of quality outcomes, quality improvement, and financial performance.

Partnerships Partnering to improve community health care services is the goal for North Kansas City Hospital along with Heartland Health in St. Joseph, Mo. and Excelsior Springs Medical Center in Excelsior Springs, Mo.
As an example, North Kansas City Hospital and Heartland Health team up to present a puppet show to area school children that promotes health care careers.
Nursing Schools For students pursuing a nursing degree, clinical instruction and hands-on experience are invaluable. Our Hospital staff is dedicated to providing both at the Hospital through our nursing school affiliations.

School of Clinical Laboratory Science This 46-week clinical program allows students to complete their senior year of instruction at the Hospital. The program acquaints students with instruments, procedures and clinical experiences found in a hospital laboratory.
