Sometimes care for a heart condition may require extra monitoring to help ensure things are going smoothly. The Hospital's Coagulation Clinic provides Coumadin® (Warfarin) results within 90 seconds. These results help staff determine appropriate medication levels and any needed dosage adjustments while the patient is still at the clinic. Coumadin® is prescribed for patients at risk for forming blood clots. Various types of patient conditions require that blood-clotting levels be checked on a regular basis. Atrial fibrillation (a type of irregular heartbeat) is the most common reason patients visit the clinic. Other reasons include stroke follow-up and deep vein thrombosis. Clinic visits are reimbursable under Medicare Part B coverage and through many health insurance providers. Contact your physician for a referral. For more information, call the Coagulation Clinic at 816-691-5232. |
