North Kansas City Hospital has the only full-service cardiovascular program in the Northland. We specialize in preventive, diagnostic and surgical services for cardiac conditions. When possible, we perform minimally-invasive procedures. And in August 2007, we became one of only three hospitals in Missouri and Kansas to receive Cycle II Accreditation with PCI from the Society of Chest Pain Centers.

We’re one of the few cardiac care facilities that utilize 3-D Echo technology that delivers three dimensional images of the heart in real time. Our hospital was also the first in Kansas City to use the Wolf Mini-Maze procedure to treat atrial fibrillation.

Leading the Way
Here, patients benefit from traditional, proven procedures, as well as newer techniques, to restore proper heart functioning. North Kansas City Hospital's Cath Lab ranks among the first facilities in Kansas City to offer patients innovative procedures, including a less invasive way to correct a hole in the heart called Atrial Septal Defect (ASD). This congenital condition is present in more than 2,000 people; and, prior to this technique, surgery was the only treatment option.

These are just a few examples of the noninvasive procedures cardiologists perform in the Cath Lab to help patients feel better. Assisting these skilled physicians is a team of specially trained and certified clinical staff including registered nurses and technicians.

Dedicated Medical Units
Whether your heart problem requires a noninvasive procedure or more extensive surgery, you will find our staff has your well-being as their top priority. Specialized medical units are provided for patients recovering from a heart problem. These include a dedicated cardiovascular intensive care unit for patients following heart surgery, an intensive care unit for patients with cardiac disease and telemetry areas for patients who are progressing through their recovery.
