After acute care, Medicare patients can take advantage of our Skilled Nursing Unit, located inside North Kansas City Hospital. A minimum three-day hospital stay and physician’s referral are required.

Patients in the Skilled Nursing Unit continue to receive medical treatments with exposure to non-traditional therapies. For example, specially trained animals visit patients twice a week. Many patients respond to pet therapy. Also, children from the Hospital’s on-site childcare center stop by to work with patients on craft projects.

Weekly patient care conferences bring together the health care team and families to discuss the patient’s progress.
