Heroes Among Us

Heroes Among Us (HAU) was created to provide assistance for active and retired veterans and first responders who need temporary support. Local men and women who have voluntarily and patriotically risked all to provide us with the freedom that is so easily taken for granted. HAU provides temporary financial assistance, personal and/or professional support and development, emergency travel expenses, home furnishings that are often too expensive for the Hero and his/her family, short-term educational assistance for children, “Santa Claus” Christmas shopping for children of the Hero, and family and group outings.

Miles of Smiles

Miles of Smiles, Inc., has provided free comprehensive dental care to more than 10,000 Northland children who would not otherwise have seen a dentist. Miles of Smiles is a portable dental program - comprehensive dental care brought directly to children at school, making it as accessible as possible. Dental disease is the No. 1 chronic illness in children. Nationally, over 155,000 school hours are lost annually because of the pain of diseased teeth. Miles of Smiles strives to treat and prevent dental disease for low-income children - to keep them in school and to increase their self-esteem through healthy teeth.
