Good Samaritan Center
Good Samaritan Center (GSC) provides a wide variety of assistance to its neighbors in Excelsior Springs and the surrounding rural communities. Programs and services include: emergency assistance, advocacy for seniors and senior home repair, counseling services, free medical clinic (for individuals without medical insurance), education, and self-improvement groups and classes. GSC operates a thrift store which serves their clientele and the community.
Metropolitan Organization to Counter Sexual Assault (MOCSA)
MOCSA has been the only comprehensive rape-crisis center in the Kansas City metropolitan area since 1975. MOCSA’s mission is to improve the lives of those impacted by sexual abuse and assault and prevent sexual violence in the community. Services are available in seven counties, and include a 24-hour crisis line, hospital and law enforcement advocacy, counseling, and prevention education programs for children, teens and adults.
Northland Therapeutic Riding Center
Northland Therapeutic Riding Center improves the quality of life for children and adults with special needs through equine-oriented therapy and activities. Research shows this type of therapy improves balance, posture, coordination, muscle tone, strength, range of motion and flexibility.Other benefits of therapy relate to problem-solving, concentration, confidence, patience, self-esteem, social interaction and creating an emotional bond between rider and horse. Therapists or certified riding instructors
implement all classes.
