School-to-Career

Gold Medallion Diploma Internship

The Gold Medallion Diploma Internship is for juniors and seniors in North Kansas City Schools who are interested in a specific healthcare career. The 40-hour internship provides a realistic view of how that role functions in a hospital. To be eligible, students must meet certain program requirements and state a specific area of interest in the healthcare field. Contact Karen Fournier, 816.691.1684.

On-Site Academy

Juniors and seniors in North Kansas City Schools can enroll in On-Site Academy. Interested students should discuss the program with their school counselor.

Hospital Internship

The Hospital Internship is a 40-hour program for juniors and seniors that offers an in-depth look into specific departments within the hospital. Interns learn about job market trends, workplace etiquette, business ethics, customer service, job hunting and much more. This is an unpaid internship experience, and it is not eligible for school credit. Contact Karen Fournier, 816.691.1684.

Youth Volunteers

The Youth Volunteers program gives students 14-18 years of age the opportunity to serve their community while gaining knowledge and experience in a healthcare environment. Volunteer positions are available in business, child care and clinical departments.

The program is divided into two sessions. The summer session runs from June-August and includes morning and afternoon shifts. The school-year session runs from September-May, with afternoon shifts available. Contact Karen Fournier, 816.691.1684.

Job Shadows

The Job Shadows program is for students ages 16 and up who have a general interest in a career in healthcare. Through the program, students tour their host department, observe employees in their work environment, discuss customer service and participate in teamwork activities.
