Volunteer Information

More than 150 adult and junior volunteers play an important role in patient care. From delivering mail and flowers to assisting patients and their families, we offer many rewarding volunteer opportunities.

Adult Volunteers Opportunities

  • Answer phones and direct patient information calls
  • Assist families in waiting areas
  • Assist with day-to-day hospital functions
  • Compile patient charts
  • Copying, filing and typing
  • Deliver flowers and mail to patient rooms
  • Guide and/or transport visitors
  • Help with department-specific tasks

North Kansas City Hospital conducts background investigations on every volunteer.

Office hours: 7:30 a.m.- 4 p.m. Monday-Friday

Volunteers also work evening and weekend shifts.

Junior Volunteer Opportunities

Students ages 14-18 interested in learning more about the healthcare environment as a possible career can obtain a volunteer application through their high school’s counseling office or by contacting the Student Volunteer Office.

Clinical, business-related and childcare volunteer opportunities are open to students. Placement is determined based on interest, age and availability.
