Project PHILLaughter Therapy Cart

(Positive, Hopeful, Individuals, Laughing)

Project PHIL is a laughter therapy program created for patients and their families. Research has shown many positive benefits that laughter has on the healing process. At North Kansas City Hospital we want to provide you and your family with a positive, hopeful, healing environment. Project PHIL is a complementary service provided to patients at their request.

Benefits of Laughter

Helps decrease pain - research shows that laughter increases endorphins in your body helping to decrease pain
Stimulates circulation - laughter has been shown to have effects similar to aerobic exercise
Improves mental functioning - the post laugh experience has been shown to increase the functioning of the left and right brain hemispheres
Increases immune system response - laughter offsets the negative effects of stress on your body

  • What People Are Saying

Kelly and PHIL - the laughter cart brought joy and smiles to my 75 year old father less than an hour after arriving to his room. Her energy, smile and fun had him using his brain, smiling and feeling better in moments. He went from complaining about pain to enjoying himself and feeling like the road to recovery is much shorter.

    Kelly and PHIL are wonderful!

It is a relief when I hear or see them coming.

Patients enjoy the games and overall mood they bring.

You made my day. It's a wonderful program.
