New Behavioral Health Services
A 24-bed behavioral health services unit, serving the adult population, is scheduled to open in October on the North Kansas City Hospital campus. Psychiatrist Todd Hill, DO, will serve as medical director, and Signature Behavioral Health Services (Signature) will manage the facility at 2900 Clay Edwards Dr. on the North Kansas City Hospital campus.
Dr. Hill has been working on this endeavor since 2009 when the need for additional behavioral services was originally identified. “Both inpatient and outpatient services will start with patient-centered care and remain focused on the patient,” Dr. Hill of Northland Psychiatric Specialists says.
Full Psychiatric Services
Physicians will have a full complement of services to aid them in caring for their patients. In addition to the inpatient beds, an IOP (intensive outpatient program) is currently in place. A robust PHP (partial hospital programs) is currently being developed to help meet the goal of keeping psychiatric patients out of the hospital.
By contacting Signature for psychiatric needs, the burden of coordinating care is lifted from the referring physician, as Signature will serve as a clearing house. Signature will access the resources of four physicians and two large psychology groups (employing over 130 therapists) to coordinate patient care.
Physicians and patients will benefit from the high quality of Signature’s medical services and ability to contract with multiple insurance firms. Signature’s IOP is also unique in that patients will be seen by a physician at least once a week, and the new service will be the only stand alone, Joint Commission-accredited program in the metro area.
By utilizing the depth of experience of Signature (based in metro St. Louis), located on the campus of North Kansas City Hospital and directed by Dr. Hill, this new psychiatric hospital and affiliated services will reflect a community feel and caring atmosphere.
Watch for an invitation to Signature’s open house this fall.
