Congratulations to John O. Stanley, MD, family medicine physician with Meritas Health Briarcliff, on his appointment as president of the Missouri State Medical Association (MSMA). “I’m honored to serve in this capacity,” Dr. Stanley says. “MSMA gives a unified voice to the medical community.” Since joining the association in 1993, Dr. Stanley has served on a variety of committees.
During his one-year term, he will continue efforts on 3 MSMA priorities:
- Guide ongoing development of the EMR system so it more fully supports the practice of medicine (in addition to coding and regulations).
- Establish physicians as the medical team leaders and promote greater integration of healthcare delivery.
- Protect the privileged physician/patient relationship.

Dr. Stanley earned his medical degree from the University of Autonoma, Guadalajara, Mexico, and completed his family medicine residency at Prince George's General Hospital, Cheverly, Maryland.
