Meritas Health Express to Launch in December
Meritas Health, a subsidiary of NKCH, will soon begin to offer walk-in clinics at the Northland Hy-Vee stores. The first Meritas Health Express clinic is expected to open inside the Liberty Hy-Vee at 109 N. Blue Jay Drive in December, with four additional clinics planned to open over the next two years. Advanced practitioners will provide a wide range of low-acuity care and services to adults and children 18 months and older. Medical oversight will be provided by Meritas Health primary care physicians.
Meritas Health Express will be open seven days per week and closed only on Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Hours will be:
- Mon.-Fri. 8 a.m. - 8 p.m.
- Sat. 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
- Sun. 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Meritas Health Express is designed to serve consumers who value convenience, affordability and geographic proximity to home, work and errands, especially on nights and weekends when PCP practices are traditionally closed. Secondary research indicates that approximately 50% of patients who visit walk-in clinics do not have PCPs, which is expected to create opportunities for direct referrals to primary care physicians for follow up appointments and services. Patients with medical homes will be referred back to their PCPs for ongoing care; PCPs will also receive a summary note of the care provided.
