Hyperbaric and Wound Care Center Receives Accreditation
North Kansas City Hospital’s Hyperbaric and Wound Care Center recently received level II accreditation from the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society. NKCH is one of only 175 Hyperbaric Centers nationwide to receive accreditation, which is awarded for meeting or exceeding the highest industry standards and best practices in hyperbaric treatment.
To determine if the Center was eligible for accreditation, UHMS sent a team of experts to examine the Center's staffing and training, equipment installation, operation and maintenance, facility and patient safety, and standard of care.
"Providing quality care is a top priority for us," says Karl Stark, MD, FACS. "We’re committed to being an industry benchmark for high standards and exceptional care.” Clinical hyperbaric facilities, such as North Kansas City Hospital’s Hyperbaric and Wound Care Center, demonstrate their commitment to patient care and facility safety by voluntarily participating in this program. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy is a safe and evidence-based treatment proven to speed the healing process in certain types of wounds.
