Emergency Codes Change January 1, 2014
Based on Missouri Hospital Association (MHA) recommendations, emergency codes at the Hospital changed January 1. The changes allow for transparent and consistent language across the state. Ninety percent of Missouri hospitals have agreed to this change. Other states are following suit. The new, clear language offers the most protection for patients and visitors so they can understand the codes and be more cooperative with quicker compliance. For example, “Code Gray” is changing to “Weather Alert” plus a description and instructions.
