Comprehensive Services for the Health of Your Business

Caring for the health and well-being of your employees benefits everyone and boosts your company’s bottom line. At North Kansas City Hospital, we make it our business to understand the unique needs of employers and the necessity for a healthy workforce.

Our Occupational Health program—the only one of its kind in the Kansas City area—is designed to help you meet regulatory requirements, assess and improve the health of your workforce, limit worker’s compensation claims and be prepared for unexpected emergencies. We offer a flexible, hospital-based partnership with comprehensive, coordinated services, including immediate referral and treatment of injured workers, in one convenient location.

Let us work with you for the health of your workforce and your business.

Occupational Medicine Clinic

The Occupational Medicine Clinic on the North Kansas City Hospital campus offers a comprehensive range of services for your business needs—from employment physicals and drug screening to acute care for injuries.

Round-the-Clock Services

North Kansas City Hospital’s Emergency Department is a Level II Trauma Center ready to serve you when emergencies arise. Our highly trained staff understand the need for treatment and immediate follow-up in a clinic setting, if appropriate, to return employees to work in a timely fashion.

Our ED and Occupational Health staff excel at clear communication with your company representatives. On the next business day following an injured employee’s visit to the Emergency Department, your company representative receives a call with an update on the status of the worker’s injuries. If the injured worker is admitted to North Kansas City Hospital, our nurse liaison contacts and updates the insurance carrier and your company representative on the injured employee’s condition and progress.

When you need more routine health care or testing for your employees outside regular office hours, we’re also here to assist you. After-Hours Care through our Emergency Department features an accredited lab that tests for drugs and alcohol (via breath)—periodic, random, for-cause, post-accident, return-to-duty and follow-up testing. Once a screening is complete, you’ll get results by phone within 24 hours, unless a non-negative result is received. These results may take 48 to 72 hours before a report can be made.

Workers’ Rehab Center

When employees need help transitioning from an injury back to their job, the Workers’ Rehab Center at the Occupational Medicine Clinic is the next step in the continuum of our occupational health care. Our physical and occupational therapists focus on safely restoring your employee to health and full functionality for work and everyday activities.

Laboratory Services

We offer an accredited laboratory for post-accident, random, and for-cause drug and alcohol screenings. Our nurse coordinator phones and mails results to your company representative and answers questions related to our drug screening program.

Assisting Your Team

Beyond the treatment and care of your employees, North Kansas City Hospital offers a variety of other ways to help you and your medical team. Our medical experts can visit onsite to evaluate the need for workplace safety recommendations and enhanced training for your company’s first-aid providers. Several of our Emergency Department physicians are medical directors for Northland employers and all are experienced in first responder training.

We also offer a range of wellness programs and services we can bring to any location. Learn more about our occupational wellness resources.
