during and after the procedure. We offer surgery services for children
and adults.

Keeping your family informed during your surgery is a priority for us.
Your family members receive updates while you're in surgery. They'll
wait in a comfortable area with access to free coffee, televisions and
other amenities. If your family chooses to leave the waiting area,
pagers are available so staff members can contact them if necessary.
Inpatient Surgery
North Kansas City Hospital is on the forefront of new technology that
can lead to quicker patient recovery and a return to normal activities.
The unit has 65 beds in a spacious area with all private rooms. The
surgeons and staff provide unparalleled level of comprehensive care,
which includes a unit based case manager, social worker, physical
therapy room and classrooms.
Robotic Surgery
New technology makes it possible for some surgeries to be performed in a
way that is more comfortable and gets you back on your feet more
quickly than traditional surgery. One such ‘less invasive’ procedure is
called robotic surgery. The equipment used in robotic surgery is
nothing like you’d see in Saturday morning cartoons. Instead, the robot
responds with the hand-guided expertise of skilled surgeons who perform
urological (bladder and prostate) and gynecological (female
reproductive system) procedures in less time with amazing accuracy and

Outpatient Surgery
Health Services Pavilion at North Kansas City Hospital is the location
for many of the outpatient surgeries performed by Hospital staff.
Patients are cared for in a comfortable environment and go home the same
day. A private elevator and exit is used upon patient discharge. The
skilled surgical team performs procedures in the areas of cosmetic and
plastic surgery, ear, nose and throat, gynecology, dental,
ophthalmology, orthopedics, pain management and general surgery.
Outpatient surgery can lead to a quicker recovery and a return to your
normal activities.
Off-Campus Outpatient Surgery
North Kansas City Hospital provides outstanding outpatient surgery on
campus, but there are three offsite, freestanding locations as well.
Briarcliff Surgery Center in Kansas City, Mo., and Liberty Surgery
Center in Liberty, Mo., are affiliated with North Kansas City Hospital.
Swinging Through Surgery
Swinging Through Surgery is a special pre-surgery program for children.
Is it possible that surgery could be fun and exciting? We try to make it
so for kids. Once a child is scheduled for surgery, he or she receives
an invitation to a “Jungle Party” held in a special jungle room. In this
fun atmosphere, children see hands-on demonstrations of surgery
equipment and meet surgery staff dressed in surgery scrubs. They learn
what to bring, what will happen and how they might feel. This is also a
good opportunity for parents to ask surgery staff any questions about
their child’s surgery. Kids don’t leave empty-handed. They get a special
jungle bag of goodies.
The jungle theme continues on the day of surgery. Your child starts in
the village, just outside the jungle. The child gets to pick a surgery
buddy (lion, money, tiger or elephant) and drive a safari jeep into the
surgery area.
