Mother & Baby Care

Mother Baby CareCongratulations! Your baby is finally here! Whether you are a first-time mom or have some experience, it helps to have caring, compassionate, helpful people around you the first few days. That’s where our Mother/Baby nurses excel.

After Delivery

Immediately after your delivery, we'll perform routine screenings to assess his or her health. We'll also apply erythromycin eye ointment to prevent infection, the Hepatitis B vaccine and a vitamin K shot to prevent Vitamin K Deficiency Bleeding, a rare but life-threatening condition.

Skin-to-Skin Contact

The hours following the birth of your baby are the perfect opportunity for you and your baby to get to know each other. We encourage skin-to-skin contact for the first hour after birth as long as you and your baby are healthy. Skin-to-skin contact helps your baby adjust to his/her new world and encourages breastfeeding.

We promote a family-centered experience, but at times, we may limit visitors based on your condition and the health of your baby.
