Chip In For Charity Raises Nearly $129,000 for Local Charities

For the 27th consecutive year, North Kansas City Hospital’s golf tournament fundraiser, Chip In For Charity, proudly supported Northland charities. Through the generosity of 36 sponsors, 112 golfers gathered for the September 21 tournament, and helped raise $128,917. All proceeds go to three local charities in Clay and Platte counties.

“Over the last 27 years, the event has raised over $3 million,” said Peggy Schmitt, president and CEO of NKCH. “Supporting organizations that address the needs of our community is a commitment we’re proud to uphold each year.”

2019 Charities

This year’s Chip In For Charity check presentation theme, “There’s No Place Like Home,” was inspired by all three recipient charities’ focus on providing safe and accessible housing for Northland residents.

Metro Lutheran Ministry
For over 47 years, Metro Lutheran Ministry has provided housing and emergency services to people experiencing homelessness and poverty in Clay, Platte, Jackson and Wyandotte counties. MLM ministers to the needs of the community’s poor, homeless, elderly and disabled.

Northland Neighborhoods, Inc.
For 23 years, Northland Neighborhoods, Inc. has provided critical home repairs to lower-income homeowners. NNI also supports homeowners associations by offering crime watch education and safety trainings. Monthly programs such as Meet Your Councilperson connect citizens with elected officials and government agencies, giving Northlanders an opportunity to share their voices.

Northland Shepherd’s Center
Over the past 28 years, Northland Shepherd’s Center has helped more than 4,000 people who are age 60 and older and on limited incomes live meaningful and purposeful lives as they age in place. With the support of more than 500 volunteers, NSC provides 20 enrichment and service programs to older, vulnerable people so they can feel safe and confident in their homes and thrive in the community.

Each year, NKCH’s Board of Trustees accepts submissions from charities that wish to be considered for funding.
