Excelsior Springs Hospital and North Kansas City Hospital Announce New Partnership

ESH Board of Trustees Approves Management Agreement with NKCH

ESHThe Excelsior Springs Hospital Board of Trustees voted today to enter into a management agreement with North Kansas City Hospital, effective July 1. Under the terms of the agreement, North Kansas City Hospital (NKCH) will provide operational oversight to Excelsior Springs Hospital (ESH) through the employment of current CEO Sally Nance, who has held the position for 24 years.

"The partnership means that our community will have seamless, local access to NKCH’s extensive network of specialists and services, and the hospital will have access to their financial and operational expertise," said Sally Nance, ESH CEO. NKCH will also provide staffing and employee education to ESH as needed. ESH employees will continue to be employed by ESH.

"We have had a forty year relationship with NKCH and this agreement will continue to strengthen that relationship," said Rich Andrew, ESH Board president. "Collaboration and strategic alliances between community hospitals are important to the continued delivery of local and quality healthcare," added Michael Montgomery, M.D., NKCH Board chairperson.

"The ultimate goal of our partnership has always been to promote health and improve the availability of health services for the communities that we serve," said Peggy Schmitt, NKCH president and CEO. Schmitt will attend ESH Board meetings and participate as an ex officio member of the Board.

Excelsior Springs Hospital is comprised of a 25 bed critical access hospital, a 60 bed convalescent center, a 20 bed assisted living facility and a 34 unit independent living facility.
