The goal of our Respiratory Department is to provide optimal respiratory care services to our patient population. Using treatments customized for our patients, our respiratory therapists work together to restore breathing functions to normal, and to ensure a better quality of life for our patients. North Kansas City Hospital has earned the Quality Respiratory Care Recognition (QRCR) award for several consecutive year. This award is part of a national program aimed at helping patients and families make informed decisions about the quality of respiratory care services available in hospitals. This speaks volumes about the quality of care that our respiratory staff provides.
Advanced technology also plays a huge role in the delivery of the specialized care that North Kansas City Hospital’s respiratory team provides. We are the first hospital in the Kansas City area to offer Bronchial Thermoplasty (BT). This procedure helps provide long-lasting relief for patients with asthma. In a clinical study, patients who were treated with BT experienced fewer asthma-related emergency room visits and were less dependent on associated oral steroid treatments.
Respiratory therapists and other healthcare providers can thrive at North Kansas City Hospital. Growth is not only measured by position advancement, but also through opportunities to learn new technology and improve medical knowledge. We encourage therapists to participate and become a voice for improvement. They chair all departmental committees and are encouraged to apply for advanced leadership roles. We also recognize members of our respiratory staff on a regular basis. These components help ensure that we continue to provide the quality care that has earned us national recognition.
