U.S. News & World Report and the American College of Surgeons recently recognized North Kansas City Hospital.

U.S. News & World Report recognized North Kansas City Hospital as the third Best Hospital in the metro area and the fourth Best Hospital in Missouri.

NKCH also received High Performing ratings for Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Repair, Aortic Valve Surgery, Colon Cancer Surgery, Heart Bypass Surgery, Heart Failure, Hip Replacement, Knee Replacement and the medical specialty of Nephrology.

Only 569 of the more than 4,500 hospitals assessed were recognized as a Best Regional Hospital in a state or metro area. NKCH was recognized at the state and metro-area levels.

To earn a coveted Best Hospitals badge and/or Best Regional Hospitals badge, hospitals must earn a Top 50 ranking in a medical specialty or High Performing ratings in a minimum of three procedures and/or conditions.

Cancer Care

Commission on Cancer Accredited Program LogoThe American College of Surgeons’ Commission on Cancer granted NKCH a three-year accreditation. To earn CoC accreditation, a cancer program must meet 34 quality care standards, be evaluated every three years through a survey process and maintain levels of excellence in comprehensive patient-centered care.

CoC accreditation ensures NKCH’s cancer program provides these key elements of quality cancer care:

  • Comprehensive, patient-centered care through a multidisciplinary team approach
  • Access to information on clinical trials and new treatment options
  • Ongoing monitoring and lifelong patient follow-up
  • Psycho-social support and survivorship care
  • Continuous quality improvements in patient care
