Shorten Named New Sleep Center Medical Director

Scott M. Shorten, MD, a neurologist and sleep medicine specialist with Meritas Health Neurology, was recently named the new medical director of the Diagnostic Sleep Center at North Kansas City Hospital. He succeeds pulmonologist Joseph E. Henry, MD.

Accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, the Diagnostic Sleep Center performs studies that can accurately diagnose and treat more than 20 sleep disorders.

Dr. Shorten has treated patients at the Diagnostic Sleep Center since joining Meritas Health Neurology in 2015. Dr. Shorten, Dr. Henry and J. Brian Ladesich, MD, a pulmonologist with Meritas Health Pulmonary Medicine, will continue as the core group of board-certified sleep medicine specialists at NKCH.

Scott M. Shorten, MDDr. Shorten earned his medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine, Kansas City. After an internship in internal medicine and residency in neurology at the University of Kansas Medical Center, he completed a fellowship in sleep medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Nashville, TN.
