What to Expect at a Sleep Center

Sleep studies are conducted on an outpatient basis and are a painless, effective way to diagnose sleep disorders. Our knowledgeable staff give you personalized attention and detailed information on what to expect.

Does someone need to drive me?
Unless you already rely on another person for your transportation, you don’t need to make special accommodations. Because we don’t administer medication or sleeping aides, getting to and from your sleep study is as simple as driving to a routine doctor’s appointment.

How long does a sleep study last?
You’ll spend a normal sleep period (night or day) in a room that looks and feels like a bedroom with a full-sized bed, private bathroom* and a television.

What will the sleep specialists do?
Registered polysomnographic technologists attach special electrodes to your head, chest and legs. Once asleep, they monitor your brain wave activity, eye activity, heart rate, airflow, chest and abdomen movement, and oxygen levels.

After the study, we review the results with you and your physician and discuss possible treatment options. Many times, treatment beings immediately, meaning you start getting better sleep right away.
