Hospital Celebrates 25 Years of Home Health Excellence

Celebrating over two decades of nationally acclaimed care, August marked the 25th anniversary of North Kansas City Hospital’s Home Health agency. “Having the privilege to serve the community is special to us, and we hope to remain a provider of choice for home health services in the area, delivering the best possible care to each life we touch,” said Cheryl Foster, MHA, BSN, director of Home Health at NKCH.

Preceding its 25th anniversary, the agency received two recognitions for its outstanding services. On a state level, NKCH Home Health was the only Missouri agency selected as a top organization in the nation after BKD/Strategic Healthcare Programs analyzed data from over 12,000 Medicare-licensed providers. Nationally, NKCH was acknowledged as a premier performer by SHP. This honor was awarded because the agency earned an overall patient satisfaction score that ranked in the top 5% of 2,500 other home health providers in 2018.

While the rankings recognize the agency’s hard work, the team also celebrates their smaller victories.

“I enjoy being a Home Health physical therapist because our services allow patients to remain at home,” said Muriel Brock, PT - NKCH Home Health. “There are periods where we are their only contact with the outside world, which makes it especially rewarding when they’re able to return to their active lives.”

Brock likes being part of an interdisciplinary team that offers total patient care. From nurses, home care aides, and speech and occupational therapists to social workers, this dynamic team can address the complex needs of the growing patient population.
