North Kansas City Hospital is the only Northland hospital recognized by Healthgrades as one of America’s 100 Best Hospitals for both gastrointestinal care and gastrointestinal surgery in 2023. The Specialty Excellence Awards™ place NKCH in the top 2% of nearly 4,500 hospitals in the country.
The Specialty Excellence Awards empower consumers to make informed choices about where to find best-in-class specialty care. Just as it is crucial for consumers to find the right doctor for their specialty care, so too should they ensure their doctor practices at a hospital that excels in the condition or procedure for which they require treatment.
“It is paramount that patients can trust in our ceaseless efforts to provide evidence-based, superior quality care in all areas, and this honor reflects our dedication to doing so in gastrointestinal care and surgery,” said Kerri Jenkins, NKCH senior vice president and chief operating officer.
NKCH’s more than 20 gastroenterologists and gastrointestinal and colorectal surgeons specialize in diagnosing and treating a range of digestive tract diseases and conditions, including of the colon, gallbladder, intestines, liver, pancreas, rectum and stomach.
To assess overall hospital quality, Healthgrades analyzed the clinical performance of more than 45 million Medicare inpatient claims for the most recent three-year period available, including clinical outcomes, patient experience and patient safety. Recipients consistently delivered better than expected clinical outcomes for their patients based on risk-adjusted mortality and complications rates for common procedures and conditions. Healthgrades, the leading resource that connects consumers, physicians and health systems, does not consider the reputation of institutions or any financial information.
