This award, presented by Forbes and Statista Inc., is based on a survey of 70,000 Americans working for companies with more than 500 employees across 25 industry sectors. Employees were asked to:

  • Rate their willingness to recommend their employers to friends and family
  • Evaluate other employers in their respective industries and states that stood out either positively or negatively

Only 1,382 employers made the entire list of 50 states, plus the District of Columbia. Employees also were asked 52 questions about their current employers, including:
