KC Chamber Recognizes NKCH and MH as Platinum Level Healthy KC Certified for Fourth Time
September 24, 2024Categories: PRESS RELEASE

The Kansas City Chamber of Commerce awarded North Kansas City Hospital and Meritas Health Platinum Level Healthy KC Certified for the fourth time. This is the highest level of recognition within the Kansas City Chamber of Commerce’s Healthy KC Workplace Wellness Certification. The award is given every two years. NKCH and MH were previously recognized in 2018, 2020 and 2022.
Workplace Wellness Certification is based on the World Health Organization’s Heathy Workplaces Framework and is designed to make Kansas City a healthier place to live and work. Entrants are judged against four pillars: nutrition, physical fitness, tobacco and mindfulness/whole person.
“Just as we strive to serve the health of Northland residents, we want to ensure our own staff are able to practice good health,” said Dawn Bryant, vice-president human resources. “I am pleased the KC Chamber continues to recognize our hard work providing healthy options to our workforce.”
NKCH and MH employee programs such as the on-site fitness center, on-site vaccinations, in-person community wellness classes and an on-demand archive of hundreds of health education videos all played a role in helping the system maintain its platinum status.
NKCH’s culture of wellness encourages employees to focus on mental stability, physical endurance, financial stability, nutritional value, and overall health. Its goal is to offer health and wellness programming to monitor success and encourage healthy habits.
“At NKCH, we want to make sure our employees are living healthy, happy lives so they can provide the best care to every person who walks through our doors,” said Leia Darden, wellness coordinator.
