North Kansas City Hospital and Meritas Health is a Three-Time Winner of Newsweek’s America’s Best Maternity Hospital
May 19, 2025
North Kansas City Hospital and Meritas Health was named to Newsweek’s list of America’s Best Maternity Hospitals for a third time. This honor recognizes the top 444 hospitals in the United States that provide exceptional maternity care, supporting patients through pregnancy, delivery and every step of the postpartum journey.
“This achievement reflects our commitment to deliver the most comprehensive, high-quality support for every parent and newborn,” said Catherine Bonderer, MSN, MBA, RNC-OB, NE-BC, senior director of Maternal Child Health at NKCH. “From our obstetricians and nurses to our neonatology experts, our incredible team makes a measurable difference in the lives of patients through the care we provide."
This is the fourth year that Newsweek and Statista, a data and business intelligence portal, compiled this list. Rankings are based on hospital quality metrics, patient experience and online surveys completed by healthcare professionals and hospital managers knowledgeable about maternity processes. Institutions are divided into two performance categories based on their scores: five-ribbon and four-ribbon. NKCH and MH received a four-ribbon designation in 2022, 2024 and 2025.
This news comes just after NKCH and MH were named to U.S. News and World Report’s list of Best Hospitals for Maternity Care and received its top rating of “High Performing in Maternity Care (Uncomplicated Pregnancy).”
